The Katonah Museum of Art's special exhibition, Ancient Art of the Cyclades, illustrates the various styles of stone sculptures and vessels from Greece's Cycladic Islands that were created during the Third Millennium B.C. Gathered from 12 museums and 16 private collections, the simply designed, prehistoric iconic works on display inspired Pablo Picasso (1881-1973), Constantin Brancusi (1876-1957), Amadeo Modigliani (1884-1920) and other modern artists.
"Ancient Art of the Cyclades" is on view from October 1 through December 31, 2006 at the Katonah Museum of Art, Route 22 at Jay Street, Katonah, NY 10536 (Telephone: 914-232-9555; Website).
