Bar at the Folies-Bergère (1882) by French Realist and Impressionist painter Édouard Manet (1832-1883) will reside exclusively at the Getty Museum late this Spring and Summer in a focus exhibition that will seek to unravel the masterpiece's optical mysteries in light of current art-historical research. Detailed texts and a reflective surface opposite the canvas will aid the viewer in unraveling the many secrets within the mirror behind the composition's Parisian barmaid.

"Manet's 'Bar at the Folies-Bergère'" is on view from June 5 through September 9, 2007 at The Getty Museum, 1200 Getty Center Drive, Los Angeles, CA 90049-1681 (Telephone: 310-440-7300; Website). The museum is open Tuesday through Thursday and Sunday from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM and Friday and Saturday from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Admission is free. Parking costs $8.00.
