About the Show:

Better known as an Abstract Expressionist painter, New York School member Philip Guston (1913-1980) once said, "It is the bareness of drawing that I like. The act of drawing is what locates, suggests, discovers." Philip Guston: Works on Paper is the first retrospective of his drawings in twenty years, and offers abundant proof that the artist put those words to practice; indeed, there were periods during his long career when he stopped painting altogether to concentrate on his draftsmanship.
