Bauhaus 1919-1933: Workshops for Modernity brings together an astounding 400+ works from the tri-citied German school that existed a mere 14 years but forever changed the face of Modernity across the spectrum of visual arts fine, decorative and architectural. The exhibition comes 90 years after the establishment of the Bauhaus and 80 years after the founding of MoMA, whose first director, Alfred Barr, Jr., credited his visit to the School as a life-altering experience. (Indeed, the very "feel" of MoMA can be traced to Barr's Bauhaus visit. ) Bauhaus 1919-1933: Workshops for Modernity is the Museum's first comprehensive look at the subject since 1938, and features key US and International loans. An exhibition that has happened only once every 70 years, thus far, is advisable to catch in person if one can.

Bauhaus 1919-1933: Workshops for Modernity is on view at The Museum of Modern Art, New York from November 8, 2009 through January 25, 2010. It will not travel.
