Special Exhibition Gallery: Annie Leibovitz: American Music

September 24, 2006 to January 7, 2007 at the Detroit Institute of Arts

From Shelley Esaak, About.com

From the moment she signed on with Rolling Stone magazine in 1970, through many awards, honors, collectible books, one-woman exhibitions and to the present day, Annie Leibovitz has been rightly accorded the status of "artist" for her singular photographic portraits.

Her latest traveling exhibition, Annie Leibovitz: American Music showcases 70 color and black-and-white portraits of American musicians in intimate settings. It includes Leibovitz's recent work in addition to several classic images from the late 1970s and 1980s. American Music is organized by Experience Music Project, Seattle and all works are courtesy of Annie Leibovitz.

"Annie Leibovitz: American Music" is on view from September 24, 2006 to January 7, 2007 at The Detroit Institute of Arts, 5200 Woodward Avenue, Detroit, Michigan 48202 (Telephone 313-833-7900; TDD: 313-833-1454). "Annie Leibovitz: American Music" is a ticketed exhibition.
