Guido Reni owed a great debt to Raphael for his painting style. Reni's work is wonderful, and was very much in demand during his lifetime, but not one aspect of it has any original technique. Perhaps a negative bias is showing through here; Reni was reportedly both extremely pious and misogynistic to the point of barring women from crossing his threshold. Because of the first, and in spite of the latter, he tenderly painted some fine Madonnas.
