Life:

Claude Monet was a founder and leader of the Impressionists (the group took their name from one of his paintings "Impression Sunrise"). Of the group, Monet took the Impressionistic theories of broken color and interplay of light the farthest, sometimes painting whole series of the exact same view under different conditions of light and weather.

  • Wheatstacks (End of Summer), 1891
  • Rouen Cathedral (series), 1892-94
  • Water Lilies, 1906
