Life:
Everett Shinn paid the bills with illustrations for books, newspapers and magazines. He's best known as a member of The Eight, with their urban realist style. Almost as soon as he achieved success as a painter, Shinn pursued writing and film directing. These endeavors didn't pan out, which led him back to working in commercial art for the rest of his life.
