Jugendstil

By Shelley Esaak, About.com

Definition:

(noun) - Jugendstil literally means "Youth Style". It is the term that the Art Nouveau movement (of the late 19th and early 20th centuries) went by in German-speaking areas of Europe. It is also, apparently, a handy phrase to have an acquaintance with, if one is shopping for collectibles on eBay.

Pronunciation: yoo·gend·schteel
Also Known As: Youth Style, Art Nouveau
