Artists' Lists: Baroque Artists

Sunday July 10, 2005
hals_blbaroque_dutch_blog.jpgYou know, you wonderful, hard-working educators really ought to take more than two weeks off. Heaven knows, you deserve it! I have a hard time, some days, handling my own three, and just can't imagine how one juggles 30 on a daily or hourly basis. (Big collective sigh of relief I'm not in some Teachers' Lounge, surreptitiously pouring distilled potatoes into a coffee cup, huh?)

Anyhow - judging by site statistics, a lot of you are already hotly and heavily into next semester's lesson plans. In case you, like me, live and die by lists, lists and more lists, I've compiled a group of them for Baroque artists. The project ended up being more involved than initially supposed because (1) the Baroque was so dang long and (2) some of those wanderlusty artists had a tendency to move around Europe (garnering several different last names, at times). (I came to love sweethearts like Rembrandt and Vermeer who were considerate enough to stay put.) Hope these are helpful in your planning. And that you'll be taking another couple of weeks off before the end of August.
