"Lee Le Blanc As I Knew Him"
Saturday November 27, 2004
Deirdre Le Blanc, an artist who gifted us with a great article on the Sacred Geometry in Pysanky, wrote up a piece about her father, renowned wildlife artist Lee Le Blanc. Lee had a fascinating life, and worked in Hollywood (in animation) for many years before creating his award-winning duck stamps. Listen, maybe you've never really considered those state and Federal duck and trout stamps, but let me tell you: the artistic competition in that field is fierce. Lee was one of the greats, and remains highly collectible.
Deirdre deserves many thanks for sharing memories of her dad and a lot of images from her private collection. Big thanks and an apology. I'd told her that it'd be nice to get the article published around the start of hunting season (when duck hunters hit the blinds) and she made sure all of the images were here (she was so prompt about it) ... then, after time passed, told her, "Let's shoot for your Dad's birthday," (October 5th) ... and look here: it's the end of November already. Many apologies, Deirdre, for my glacial "speed".
