Christo Wraps a Doghouse
In another "who'd a thunk it" story of friendship between artists (see Dalí + Disney = Destino), the artists Christo and (wife/artistic partner) Jeanne-Claude recently completed the sculpture Wrapped Snoopy House for the Charles M. Schulz Museum and Research Center of Santa Rosa, California. As reported in the San Francisco Chronicle, the late comic and sequential artist Charles ("Sparky") Schulz and Christo became friends in the 1970s while the Running Fence project was in danger of not obtaining right-of-ways from landowners. Schulz was apparently vital in helping to coax the necessary permissions for the work to proceed. He then went on to predict, in the comic strip "Peanuts", that Christo would next wrap Snoopy's doghouse. It's always good to read of mutual respect and admiration, isn't it?
