A 2005 Yuletide Manhattan Art Tour
Sunday December 25, 2005
Ah, the holiday season in midtown Manhattan! I, living elsewhere, fancifully envision much festooning of twinkling lights, swags of decorative greenery and banners waving over crowds of sophisticated sidewalk strollers. Stan Parchin, who does live there, happily (and realistically) advises residential and visiting art lovers 'tis the season for sensible shoes and a leisurely tour down "Museum Mile." By lovely coincidence, proximal institutions - besides the tour-starting, always-medieval Cloisters - have got Late Middle Ages and Renaissance art exhibitions on view during Yuletide 2005. As these are Stan's areas of expertise, and since he's been joyously soaking in one special exhibition after the next in the same few blocks, the rest of us must assume that Santa found him a very good boy, indeed, in 2005. Indispensable Stan has certainly put together a neat itinerary for the rest of us, and he and I both hope you'll enjoy it. Happy Holidays, All!
