Special Exhibition Review: The Art of Medicine in Ancient Egypt
Sunday September 18, 2005
By this time, I've resorted to deeply raiding my list of gushing superlatives when speaking of Stan Parchin, Senior Correspondent for Museums and Special Exhibitions. The museums in the Greater New York City area seem to keep coming up with exhibitions that feature his areas of specialization and Stan ... Stan seems to keep mesmerizing me (and, hopefully, you too) with his tidbits of background information on why thus-and-so is significant. In his latest review, on The Art of Medicine in Ancient Egypt (recently opened at The Metropolitan Museum of Art), I discovered that ancient Egyptian physicians had a sense of humor. Or, at least, their potters did. Who knew? (Apparently any scholar who keeps up on the latest, as Stan does so gracefully.) Dua Netjer en ek, Stan. (Ha! That's ancient Egyptian for "Thank you," as said to a man. My gigantic contribution to the review.) Just like Mr. Magoo, you've done it again.
