Every Dog Has Its Day

In the most recent issue of the Art History newsletter, a Girl Detective wannabe (OK, it was me) pondered malfunctioning software as the cause of artist C. M. Coolidge's meteoric rise in popularity on the site - and then cheekily added that no, it was probably tens of thousands of bachelor pads being furnished simultaneously. Har, har. Well! Lo and behold, the software works perfectly and there was a reason for this freakish Coolidge metric. Two of those original poker playing dog paintings just sold at auction for $590K (US). No, that's not a typo. Over half a million bucks. Take that, Highbrow! And that, Girl Detective wannabe! Long may the Coolidge canines continue to bluff, fold and smoke cigars. (I still think that collie is cheating, though.)
