Top 10 Books on Women's Art History

Saturday October 2, 2004
There was a good deal of positive reader feedback from "Where are all the famous women artists?", written a couple of weeks ago. Curiously, every single email came from a woman, and several offered titles of her favorite books on the topic. Each of the books, along with selections I (a woman) had already had in mind, were written by women. It'll likely be mostly women who read this Top 10 list and mention the books to their daughters and female friends/students. It sort of makes a person wonder if the perceived lack of interest, by the opposite sex, on the topic of feminist Art History is part of the reason it is a topic? Surely there are some splendid men who care and write about female artists, and I'd love to be able to point others toward such publications - so please do write and tell me who they are. Thanks.
