A Do-It-Yourself Guide to Art Research for Beginners
Saturday September 25, 2004
Hooo-ah! We all just got lucky. Friend for Life, Nadine Granoff (a professional art researcher, mind you - she does this for a living, and so well she can afford to live in Washington, D.C.) wrote a 'DIY' article for those wondering how to go about the business of being art detectives. (You know who you are: inveterate garage-salers, inheritors of Aunt Tillie's "stuff", etc., as well as little old me, doggedly answering one email at a time. Usually not in a timely fashion, either.) Well! Nadine spills the beans, dishes the dirt and gives dozens of gory details on how, exactly, you can find out what your "find" is worth. We're talking professional secrets, All. We have just been empowered, so tell your friends.
OK - everybody up! Join me in a Happy Dance and waves of platonic love for brainy, generous Nadine, who initially said she'd write up a "little something". (Ha!) If a person can't help him- or herself figure out what s/he has got after reading this five-page article, then there's small hope.
