Artists You Should Know: Helen McCarthy

Wednesday July 7, 2004
magic-lamp-theater-blog.jpgHave you ever given much thought to the artists that design themed attractions? (Me neither!) They certainly do a massive amount of creating, though. This week's featured artist, Helen McCarthy, currently designs entertainment destinations all over the world. Talented Helen was an Imagineer for Disney, and is now a founding member of CREATE, a cooperative team of themed entertainment pros. One of the kids (rather enviously) summed-up Helen's situation in three words: "Coolest. Job. Ever."

Thanks yet again to Louise Huebner, for her suggestions and staunch support of working women artists. As (Mrs.) Mentor Huebner, Louise spent so many years representing a high-profile artist that she's never shy when she feels someone needs/deserves publicity (smiling at Louise). Ladies, thank you both, and Helen, it has been a pleasure to meet you.

Today (July 7) in Art History:

  • Marc Chagall (Russian-born French painter and craftsman), born in 1887
