Update: Ivories Recovered

Tuesday February 3, 2004
If you watch any of those lawyerly shows on television, this reads like a plot. (Or maybe it was all just a fraternity prank gone bad. Even a complete idiot would be able to figure out that these sculptures are pretty darn recognizable [unlike, say, a stolen VCR] and he/she/they were in some serious trouble.) The Canada.com News reported that a Toronto lawyer, at whose office the sculptures were "dropped", has turned them over to the police. One of the sculptures is now missing a thumb but, otherwise, no harm, no foul and (incidentally) no reward money will be changing hands. You have to feel good for Ken Thomson, the sculptures' owner. It's heartwarming when billionaires get their stolen property back, isn't it? (Note to other writers: Enough, already, with the "tickle" + "ivories" references. Gee whiz.)
