Last-minute Holiday Gift Ideas
Thursday December 18, 2003
If you're still trying to come up with the perfect gift idea for the art history student on your list, you have my sympathy. (If you are a student, don't be shy! Ask for something you really need, regardless of how boring it may sound to others.) Speaking as a former struggling student (and dedicated last-minute shopper), here are a few suggestions:
These aren't exactly glamorous ideas, but they're easily obtained and wrapped. More importantly, they are of infinite use and help to students, many of whom have very narrow (to put it nicely) budgets. Happy shopping!
- A year's membership at the museum of choice.
- A year's subscription to a periodical or journal of choice.
- Printer cartridges and paper. Seriously.
- Pre-paid tuition towards a credit-hour or two.
- Gift certificates for books! They're available nearly everywhere (even college bookstores) and they are always welcome. Art history texts are notoriously expensive.
- A gift certificate good at your student's local mega-"box" store. You know the one. It sells food, coffee, toilet paper and shoes.
