Profile: Georges Braque
Saturday October 25, 2003
Since it's Pablo Picasso's birthday today, it seemed like a friendly gesture to highlight Georges Braque, too (he sometimes gets overlooked, or is merely mentioned as a side-note in the Picasso hubbub). After all, Braque deserves at least half of the credit for inventing Cubism. Depending on which day it is, I may find Picasso a bit too intense, but never so with Braque. It was surprising (to me, at least) to learn that he (Braque) was the first living artist to have his work exhibited in the Louvre.
